Defense and Transportation Department Secretary to Tell FCC to Nix LightSquared

LightSquared began reworking solutions to prevent the negative impact its broadband technology would have on GPS signals back in June.

After months of studies and research, U.S. Deputy Secretary for Defense, Ashton Carter and Deputy Secretary for Transportation, John Pocari, drafted an official correspondence to the assistant secretary for commerce, stating that “there appear to be no practical solutions or mitigations that would permit the LightSquared broadband service.”
