Planned Metrolink GPS System Might Have Averted Deadly Chatsworth Crash

On Sept. 12, 2008 a Metrolink commuter train and a Union Pacific freight train collided in Chatsworth, Ca. killing 21 people from Ventura along with four others.

The California DOT awarded a $20.9 million grant to begin building the Positive train control system, a GPS train tracking system that could very well have saved the lives lost had it been in place in 2008.
