Safety Pays

Recent Fatal Accidents Underscore Need for Safe Winter Driving Practices

In the past week, snow- and ice-covered roads in the U.S. have led to a number of fatal vehicle crashes. Nine people were killed and 38 others suffered injuries Sunday, Dec. 30, when a driver lost control of a charter bus and it plummeted off Interstate 84 in eastern Oregon, USA Today reported. The winding mountain road was blanketed with ice and snow.

Survey: Nearly Two-Thirds of Americans Lack Vehicle Winter Emergency Kit

Results of a recent CarMax-sponsored online survey indicate that most drivers aren’t adequately prepared for winter weather. A total of 65% of respondents said they don’t have a winter emergency kit in their car.
